It’s all around us, yet it’s. Almost invisible our air drinking water, food supply and shelter are all at risk. Climate change is not a distant concern. It’s, a catastrophe already underway. Our health is extremely vulnerable to the environmental factors driving climate change.
Air pollution alone is related to 7 million premature deaths per year. The knock-on effects and costs of this health crisis are massive and health care still remains largely focused on treating only the symptoms.
The time has come to shift policy regulation and investment to address the causes of climate change, not just the effects. The true cost of emissions and pollutants includes human health and the financial and social impacts on communities and society.
By assessing and regulating sectors like energy, transport and agriculture, air quality can improve greatly saving millions of lives and exponential costs. [, Music, ], national and local governments need to recognize climate change as a major threat and take steps towards mitigating its effects.
